Hi I'm wondering if anybody knows what commands sends i.e the SERT to the ECM in order to reprogram it? I have been experimenting with a OBDII Interpreter and I can read all parameters and set some; If I knew what sends i.e the SERT to the ECM, I could re program any sportster EFI, and maybe big twins too. I think we should do a reverse engineering project to get the codes to reprogram the ECM and make the Stage 1 cheaper for everybody.(*) Thanks! (*)That the SERT (or others) reprogrammers marry to your VIN sucks, is a very expensive device that has a artificial cripple, is defective-by-design so you have to purchase one each time you change bike. That, together with the prohibition of Harley to his dealers to send stuff overseas is a rip off. P.s Im a computer engineer and I believe in free software, free standards and protocols. ![]() Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is currently the first game in the GTA series to use the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine. The SERT is a total rip off. I am not an electrical engineer but dabble a bit in electronics and have had the interface box opened up to see what was inside to try to modify it to be able to unmarry and remarry to different bikes at will. ![]() I see that it is a simple eprom and serial to TTL interface. Presuming one could get the part number off of the eprom (it is unlabeled) one could solder in a removable/replaceable plug in interface to allow swapping a cheap ($2) integrated circuit or even figure out which leg on the IC does an 'erase' to unmarry the SERT to the ECM VIN. Have not had the time to do this. A software solution would be even better. Imagine it can all be done via software. Papadad in China. Quote: I see that it is a simple eprom and serial to TTL interface. Wow, I was expecting a sealed unit with lots of epoxy resin on it to prevent peeking at the eprom or forcing you to destroy the unit opening it. Do you have a picture of it opened? I may walk all the electronics stores in the country if replacing a eprom is all what it takes I never had a SERT on my own, but I may purchase one if Im sure I can hack it and share with my many friends. The main problem is that now Harley dealers do not ship overseas, I will hav to resouce to el coyote again My idea was to 'listen' to SERT commands, then use my el-cheapo Interpreter to send commands (I can and will code my own software). I have 3 or 4 ideas on the way to do this, many paths: - one would be plug the SERT to my interpreter to the bike and log everything it sends to see what it sends, then develop the same way to talk to the ECM with my cheapo thingy - plug the PC to SERT to interpreter to bike, and when it asks for a VIN, send always the same VIN. Does anyone know how to reset a Screaming Eagle pro super tuner. I purchased one on Ebay and, even though the seller guaranteed that it was never used, it shows up on my computer as being paired with a different ECM. - if the VIN check is done in the software: I mean, the software reads the eprom stored VIN, then reads the VIN on motorcycle, then checks *on your computer* if both are the same -- that would be easy, just do a *ahem* 'mod' for the software (I think this is the easiest path); I guess if the thing is well designed the check should be done in hardware in the SERT and maybe encrypted; but since you say there is not even epoxy, I guess is a easy mod Any more info is really appreciated. This mini, but important project, is related to my bigger project of someday make a repair manual wiki to free the information of how to work on the bike. Power to the people! P.s I have a idle controller too that was widely criticized by USA XL users, but welcomed warmly across latin and euro spanish speaking users, and I have been using it since like 2 years now: seems that we love our bikes idling at 850-900 rpm and not +1000 plus rpm, the potato sound is what sells these machines over here.
